■The Chichester PTO calendar raffle fundraiser has been a success due to patrons and businesses coming with donations. Please return forms by Sept. 24. The first day of the raffle will be Oct. 1.
■Chichester school picture day for Grades 1 through 8 will be Sept. 30.
■Chichester students’ bus transportation information forms need to be returned to Vicki at the front office. This is a yearly form to complete and important for details of transportation of your child.
■Chichester Boy Scouts are conducting their annual Boy Scout Popcorn drive. Funds made by the scouts help them achieve their goals for the year.
■The Chichester Highway Department will be conducting a road construction project on Bear Hill and East Ricker Road tentatively on Oct. 1. This project will consist of removal of dead trees, ditch line, culvert install, adding gravel, stone, grading and compacting and paving . Work zones will be from Ferrin Road at Bear Hill Road to towline on East Ricker Road. Temporarily closures and delays are expected, access is limited to residents at these sites. ■Chichester Youth Soccer U10 Players 2 will be at Carpenter Park on Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. to host Pittsfield, Players 1 will play in Epsom at 5:30 p.m., Chichester U8 Players 2 will play in Epsom 1 at 5:30 p.m. and Chichester Players 1 will host Epsom 3. U12 players on Sept. 30 will play Northwood at 5:30 p.m. at the park. The school soccer team under the direction of Coach Chris will play Sept. 27 at the school against Pittsfield at 4 p.m. On Sept. 29 the team will be in Gilmanton at 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. Chichester will host Strafford.
■Reach For The Beach 200 mile relay went through Chichester on Sept. 25 at 5 a.m. The relay started in Bretton Woods and ended at Hampton Beach. Chichester cheered the runners on with a healthy wave.
■Laury Nichols participated in the Capital Arts Fest event sponsored by the League of NH Craftsmen. Laury is a well known high detailed wood carver, and whimsical woodland animal character artist.
■The Live and Let Live Rescue had volunteers from the Granite United Way Day of Caring Program. The helping hands from businesses and well as others helped with landscaping, cleaning the grounds and various duties. Chichester residents have generously volunteered with the Day of Caring Program around the area.
■Jason Lambert, a Chichester guitarist and the newest member of musical group Blue Light Rain performed at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage. The high energy group does celebration of the music of the Grateful Dead.
■The Chichester School Board voted recently to go into a significant level of operating status because of COVID, DHHS masks are recommended in schools due to substantial community transmission statewide. Chichester school has already seen COVID in the school and this measure will help to curb the spread.
■Captain Douglas Miner of the New Hampshire Forest Protection Bureau has been named a Smokey Bear Award Winner by the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. This is the highest honor given to an individual for preventing forest fires. WMUR TV carried his acceptance speech with state and local dignitaries present.
■The Chichester Zoning Board of Adjustment will hold a hearing on Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chichester Fire Department. This meeting is concerning a request on Map 9 Lot 90 at 71 Kelly’s Corner Road for a variance for the conversion of an existing commercial unit for a total of three residential units. The applications and documents may be viewed at town hall.
■The Chichester Cemetery Trustees has adopted the new policy of removal of flags. Effective Nov. 11 Veterans Day all flags, including USA flags, Veterans and Fire Department flags need to be removed from all cemeteries in Chichester. The flags can be replaced on Memorial Day .
■Chichester Road Agent Craig Sykes has scheduled Center Road for paving on Sept. 27 and 28. This will be weather-dependent and schedules may change. Please seek alternate routes and expect delays for Center Road homeowners.

■The Friends of the Suncook River (FOSR) ,founded nearly 20 years ago, is a non-profit corporation based in the Barnstead – Pittsfield area but covering the entire length of the river. The focus of the FOSR is to maintain a healthy Suncook River watershed by educating and engaging citizens in its history, recreation, and protection. The FOSR has been inactive since before COVID and needs to be re-built from the ground up. Officers, directors and members are needed as per the requirements of non-profit corporations.
