■Fall is upon us. Enjoy a user-friendly walk at the Madeline Sanborn Conservation area. This area on Main Street is behind the town hall and clearly marked. Another walk on Main Street is on Shaw Land, located a short distance from the town hall, heading towards the library. Parking is available.

■Fall Shotgun Turkey Season will begin Oct. 11 and ends Oct. 17. The Wildlife Management Unit L runs from the junction of 93 & 393 in Concord, east to route 4 to 202 in Northwood and beyond to the New Hampshire and Maine state line. Illegal taking of a turkey on Bear Hill in Chichester was featured by the Northwood Law TV program and the illegal hunter was punished.
■Fire Prevention Week will be observed at Chichester Central School on Tuesday with the Chichester Fire Department visiting Kindergarten through Grade 4. They will be giving students the knowledge of fire equipment and how to prevent fires.
■Oct. 6 at 7 p.m., the Chichester Grange will have a business meeting. Installations of officers will be held at this meeting. State Grange preparation will be rehearsed.
■Chichester Central School will have early release at 12:45 p.m. for its students on Thursday and no school on Oct. 8. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on these two days plus Professional Day for teachers. No School on Monday Oct. 11 for Columbus Day.
■Chichester Youth Soccer will play Concord Christian Academy Oct. 7 at 5:15 p.m. at the Academy Campus. Chichester Central School soccer team will play at Pittsfield at 4 p.m. on Oct.4. School practices starting at 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. will be on Oct. 5 through Oct. 7 at the school soccer field. Youth Soccer, Grades 3 and 4 U10, will be playing Oct. 6 at 5:15 p.m. with Chichester 2 playing in Concord, and Chichester 1 playing at Carpenter Park.
■The Chichester Conservation Commission will meet on Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.

■Chichester Cemetery Committee member Brenda Boswak has been cleaning Veteran’s stones in the following cemeteries: Leavitt, Batchelder, Edmund, Locke, Knowleton, Morrill, Smith Sanborn, and Griffin. Brenda focused on Veterans stones prior to World War II.
■The Chichester Planning Board will meet on Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire dept building to act upon an application from Map 9 Lots 89 and 90 for a lot line adjustment. Map 1 Lot 34 application will be viewed for a subdivision to create an additional lot. Both applications can be viewed at the town office.
■The Chichester Historical Society will present a program on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall. Gloria Beachy and Brenda Boswak will make it fun to get a first hand look at daily life in olden times. Readings will be done from diaries. Free admission, there will be plenty of parking and refreshments provided.
■The Chichester Historical Society received a donated pump organ from Mike and Crystal Forbes once used at the Congregational Church in Chichester. The organ had been originally donated to the church in 1909 by Charles Carpenter. Once refurbished the organ will come home to its original location. ■The Chichester Central School Administration and Health Office have released Covid updates for the new school year. The school will be sending out all notifications to all family and staff if there is a confirmed case of Covid in the school. ■The Friends of the Suncook River (FOSR) ,founded nearly 20 years ago, is a non-profit corporation based in the Barnstead – Pittsfield area but covering the entire length of the river. The focus of the FOSR is to maintain a healthy Suncook River watershed by educating and engaging citizens in its history, recreation, and protection. The FOSR has been inactive since before COVID and needs to be re-built from the ground up. Officers, directors and members are needed as per the requirements of non-profit corporations. ■The Josiah Carpenter Library is very thankful to have been the recipient of beautiful color printed posters to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Visit the poster exhibition during our normal business hours, Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This educational exhibition recounts the events through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks. Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the museum’s permanent collection.

■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for a new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the museum grounds is being worked on.
