The Girl Scout Troop in Weare had some leftover cookie proceeds that they used to make a buddy bench to build student connections at recess at Center Woods Elementary, where most of them attend school. The scouts designed, built and painted the bench specifically for CWES (with the oversight and help of an expert carpenter). The bench is a wonderful way for students who feel lonely to make new friends. Should a student need someone to play with, they will sit on the bench which indicates they are looking for someone to spend time with. When others see a student on the bench, they will go over and include them in their recess play.
