CANTERBURYTalk about ticks

■ The Town Clerk-Tax Collector’s office will be closed on April 27. Thank you.

■Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure at Elkins Public Library on April 26 at 2 p.m. Mary Ellen facilitates this group of readers who enjoy books that capture our imagination about Murder (meaning quite clear), Mayhem (violent or damaging disorder; chaos), and Misadventure (an unfortunate incident; a mishap). We will share what we have read and get recommendations from each other about favorite books and authors. We will meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.

■May 5 at 2 p.m. at Elkins Cafe with Kathie Fife. In this one-hour discussion we will learn about ticks and tick-borne diseases. We will close our discussion with (retired) Canterbury Representative, Howard Moffett. Kathie and Howard worked together on a bill about Lyme disease testing which was signed into law by Gov. Chris Sununu. Elkins Café is free and open to the public. Bring a friend and your questions for discussion after the talk.

WEBSTERReturn drugs

■The Webster Conservation Commission reminds us that April has been designated Webster Clean-up Month.  If each of us cleans up the road where we live, think of how sparkly Webster will be.  There are blue bags available outside the Town Hall.  I’m sure we have all noticed the things that have popped up now that the snow is no longer covering them.

■The Town Clerk reminds all interested people to get in touch if they would like to count ballots at one or both of the fall elections.  This is a chance to see how voting in Webster takes place.

■You already know that the Webster Elementary School PTO is having a town-wide yard sale on May 21, but did you know that the Webster Historical Society will be participating and they are looking for items to sell.  Keep an eye out for more information in the May issue of the Grapevine.

■The Webster Police Department is again sponsoring Drug Take Back Day on April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building on Route 127.  This is an excellent opportunity to drop off your unused or expired medication.
