■The Supervisors of the Checklist will be meeting at Town Hall on May 31 from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall. This is a chance to change your political party affiliation before the Primary Election that will be held on Sept. 13.

■The Allenstown Historical Society will meet on June 1 at 6 p.m. at the Suncook Business Park on Route 28 onto Lavoie Drive. We are open to the public and for more information call (603) 485-4437.

■If Iris Pond is looking a bit dry don’t be alarmed. They are lowering the water levels in order to inspect the dams on the Suncook River.

■St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Day Mass will be celebrated on May 30 at 9 a.m. and will use the Cemetery Chapel in case of rain.

■The monthly Market will be held on June 4 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on June 5 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall.

■“SLICE OF PIE” fundraiser sponsored by St.Therese Rosebush Society to benefit St. John Baptist Church. Tickets are $25 each and drawings will be on May 30 through Sept. 5 with cash prizes. ■The Parish Nurse Program has returned and is held on Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m.

■Suncook Senior Center will be closed on May 30 for Memorial Day.

■Get ready for another Concert on June 12 with BoneShakerz a local hard rock band. This free concert is sponsored by the Allenstown Economic Development Committee starting at 4 p.m. at the Blueberry Express Park at the Allenstown Town Hall. The Corn Hole Tournament will start at 3 p.m.

CHICHESTERPlay ball!

■Only a few more weeks until the Town Wide Yard Sale sponsored by the Chichester Fire Department Association. The yard sale is on June 11 and if you wish to have your address on the town map contact the fire department or go to their Facebook page. Donated yard sale items are welcome to benefit the Firefighter’s Association and can be left at the station anytime before the sale.

■Town Hall will be closed on Memorial Day on May 30. Chichester Central School and PA will be closed also.

■Chichester PTO meets on June 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the school.

■Old Home day is planned for Aug. 20. The Committee welcomes volunteers to make this a great event. Check their Facebook page, Chichester Old Home Day, for updates.

■Raffle tickets are still available from fire department members for a chance to win a new Cairns leather helmet or $500. Check their Facebook page for details.

■The Chichester Youth Baseball Minors team will play against Alton on May 31 at Carpenter Park at 5:45 p.m. Only a few weeks left before the Minors Playoffs in Pittsfield. Tee Ball plays on June 4 at the park at 9 a.m. Rookies at Epsom at 11 a.m., and Minors at Pittsfield at 2 p.m.

■The State of NH House redistricting of Chichester is completed. Our legislative district, after the 10-year census report, has removed Pembroke from our district and we are now Chichester/Pittsfield. Republicans and Democrats will be announcing local meetings to prepare for the fall elections. May 31 is the last day to change your party affiliation before the state primary on Sept. 13 with the town clerk. No changes can be made after this date.

■The Planning Board will meet at the fire station on June 2 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss applications from map 3 lot 32, 263 Dover Road for a change of use and discussion on map 4 lot 154, 69 Dover Road to convert an existing building to office space. Applications are available for review at the Board of Selectmen’s Office.

■Donna Stockman, town welfare director, will be retiring in July. Donna has provided this town with great service. A replacement to be found if interested contact the BOS office.

■The SAU 53 Executive Board meeting will be on June 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the PA building.

■Dennis and Denise Call received Best Antique Auto at the Veterans Car Show. The Calls were presented an award in honor of Sgt Christopher Wood. The 1926 Ford has been in Chichester since its original purchase. Mason Weir received Peoples Choice for his 1965 Ford Truck. Earl and Marilyn Weir were awarded Best Interior for their 1953 MGT.

■Many activities for Chichester students. On June 2 a senior walk through PA, June 10 a Kindergarten through Grade 5 field day, and Grades 6 to 8 have an amazing race. The rain date is June 13.

■3rd grader Lily Hemeon entered the Casella Art Calendar Contest, and 334 entries were entered to draw what recycling meant to them. Lily’s picture won her a place in the 2023 Casella calendar.

■The Little Book House located at the town hall and Carpenter Park have been restocked with children’s and adult books.

■Memorial Day is a day that our flags are flown to remember those who have died in war. If you have a tattered flag that needs proper retirement there are flag retirement bins located outside at Still Oaks/Roan’s Funeral Home in Epsom.

■The Supervisors of Checklist will meet on May 31 from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at town hall to accept any changes in the checklist. This will be the last day to accept voter party affiliation changes until the Sept election.

■The Board of Selectmen has adopted a new Business Occupancy Permit. As of May 17, all Chichester Businesses are required to apply for a business occupancy permit if any change of use or expansion. This will help the planning board know if a public hearing needs to be held.

■The perennial garden bed at Carpenter Park is finished. Chichester businesses Tractor Supply and Pleasant View Gardens made generous donations of plants and mulch to make this area enjoyable for all.

■The Town Clerk/Selectmen’s Office will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Town Office Meeting Room.

■The Library will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day!

■The Knitters Group will meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Library.

■Story Times on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Library. Join us for stories, songs and a snack. Themes for May include gardens, flowers and pond life.

■The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on Tuesday for a change of party registration between the hours of 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Epsom Public Library. Additions and corrections to the checklist may be made. This is the last day for voters already registered to change or declare a party affiliation.

■Kindergarten Parent Information Night on Thursday at 4 p.m., we will be holding an information session in Ms. Cheney’s room (247) for parents of children entering Kindergarten in the 2022 to 2023 school year. This session will run for about 45 minutes and will be a brief overview of what parents can expect for their child’s first year of school. Joy Cheney, Melissa Hamilton, Lori Bryant, as well as Cynthia Learson, the school nurse, will be on hand to answer all your questions. This meeting is for parents only, as we will hold a special orientation for the children in August.

■We will be celebrating our 5th Grade D.A.R.E. graduation on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. We invite all 5th Grade students and families to attend this special event.

■Looking for a fun night out? On June 3 from 7 to 11 p.m., have fun dancing the night away while supporting Epsom Old Home Weekend Events at the American Legion Hall in Epsom! ■The Epsom Youth Fishing Derby is scheduled for June 4 from 8 to 11 a.m. on 241 Center Hill Road, Epsom. This event is free to all youth ages 15 and under. Bring your favorite fishing pole and bait, some loaner fishing poles and bait are available. There will be prizes for the top three in each age group. Refreshments will be available. Helpers are available for the youth requiring assistance. Covid Precautions are encouraged. Parents, grandparents and families are encouraged to attend this family event. ■Pittsfield Memorial Day Celebration will be held on May 29 at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Dustin Park. In honor of all lost at sea, a wreath ceremony will be held at Mary’s Bridge (Bridge Street/River Road) between noon and 12:30 p.m.

■The “Field of Honor” is a living display of heroism flying as a patriotic tribute to the strength and unity of Americans. This field honors all who are currently serving and have served our community and country as policemen, firemen and military. Each flag and ribbon is $3 and will fly from May 14 through 31 in front of the Pittsfield Police Department. All proceeds will go towards a scholarship for a graduating Pittsfield Middle High School student. Printed maps will be available at the Pittsfield Post Office, Pittsfield Townhall, Main Street Variety, Bell Brothers, Jitters, and Danis Market. Again, maps will be available starting June 3. ■Pittsfield Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on May 31 from 7 to 7:30 a.m. at the Town Hall to register new voters and make corrections. This is the last day to change party affiliation or make corrections before State Primary Day on Sept. 13.

■Join the Pittsfield Historical Society at Sanborn Mills Farm on June 8 at 6:30 p.m. for a tour to see the only functioning water-powered sawmill in the U.S. to have both Circular and an Up and Down Saw.

■South Pittsfield Community Club Ham & Bean Suppers are back June 11 and 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at 444 Dowboro Road, Pittsfield. Adults are $10, children ages six to 12 are $5 and children under age six are free! All You Can Eat menu includes: ham, homemade baked beans, homemade brown bread, potato salad, drinks and homemade pies. Eat in or take out. 

■The First Congregational Church will present a patriotic concert, “It’s America,” on June 17 at 7 p.m. It will feature the Chancel Choir, JuBellation Handbell Choir and other talented musicians.
