■“Digging Into Native History In New Hampshire,” a timely topic from the NH Humanities Council, will be held at the library on Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. Robert Goodby, speaker, discusses Abenaki history that has been concealed for generations to avoid discrimination and persecution. He reveals archaeological evidence that shows their deep presence in NH, inches below the earth’s surface.

■Haunted House coming soon to Boscawen! It will be held on Gate Night on Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dorval House at Jamie Welch Park.

■Temperatures are starting to fall just like the leaves and the Town of Boscawen is preparing for cold weather with their Winter Clothes Drive. They are collecting donations of warm clothing gently used or new coats, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots until Oct. 29. Please drop off at the Town Municipal Offices or call Sarah Gerlack at (603) 753-9188 x 2303 with your questions. All donations will be distributed to children, women and men that are in need in Boscawen.

■The Planning and Community Development Offices at the Town Municipal Building will be closed from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 25.

■Fall means that the Tuesday hours at the Boscawen Transfer Station will end on Oct. 25.

■Evening Book Group on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. We will be discussing Rules of Civility by Amor Towles this month. Copies are available at the Circulation Desk or downloadable via Libby or Hoopla.

■Sweet Grass Group: come and share your views and reviews with like-minded readers in a safe environment. This group takes place at the library on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 5:30 p.m., on Oct. 20.

■Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure: we read about them, we watch a film about them, we even try to solve them – join us at the library on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. to continue our sleuthing.

■The volunteers at the Salisbury Haunted Barn and Trail located at 19 Franklin Rd., Salisbury NH is open for the season. Tickets are $15 per person and are now on sale through app.hauntpay.com/events/salisbury-woods. ■The Town of Salisbury. is currently seeking competitive proposals from qualified individuals or companies, to provide general assessing services as well as cyclical revaluation services for years 2023 through 2027. Four copies of sealed proposals are due by Nov. 1 by 3 p.m. Proposals should be directed to the attention of the Town Administrator, April Rollins, and 9 Old Coach Road, P.O. ■The Town of Salisbury is now accepting resumes and letters of interest for one part-time position of Transfer Station Assistant, to assist with the various operations at the Transfer Station. Requires medium to strenuous activity such as frequent bending, lifting and possible use of equipment (i.e., bucket loader). This position will work every Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. and may be asked to cover every other Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Must be able to obtain a Solid Waste Operator’s certification. WEBSTERAbsentee ballots

■Election Day, Nov. 8, is fast approaching but there is still time to register to vote with the Town Clerk. Stop by during regular hours and provide proof of age, domicile, citizenship (birth certificate or US Passport) and identity. Absentee ballots have arrived and anyone that applied earlier should be receiving their packet this week. If you need to vote absentee, complete an Absentee Ballot Application and return to the Town Clerk’s office for processing. A sample ballot is available on the Elections page of our website. There is also information on the Constitutional Amendment that is on the ballot.

■The Town Clerk is in the final stages of working with the vendor to provide credit card services in the office. The fees would be the same as they are with the online services: 2.95% service fee, with a minimum fee of $1.95.

■The Selectboard will meet on Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Meeting Hall at the Town Hall.

■The Planning Board will meet on Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

■The Library Trustees will meet on Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

■The CIP Meeting will be held on Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m.

■The Webster Police Department will participate in the 23rd Take Back Day. They will collect you unwanted prescriptions and over the counter medications at the Webster Public Safety Building (851 Battle St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 29.

■The Pillsbury Lake District will hold a Trunk or Treat on Oct. 29 at the Clubhouse. More details will follow.

■The lovely fall weather won’t last forever so take a walk, but be sure to wear some blaze orange on yourself and your dog.
