Community members gathered outside of the State House on Tuesday during a candle light vigil to remember the lives lost at a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado over the weekend.
The alleged shooter Anderson Lee Aldrich, was beaten into submission by patrons during Saturday night’s shooting at Club Q. Aldrich was scheduled to appear in court for the first time Wednesday by video from jail. The motive in the shooting was still under investigation, but authorities said Aldrich faces possible murder and hate crime charges.
Tuesday’s vigil was hosted by 603 Equality, the Reproductive Freedom Fund of New Hampshire, and GunSense NH, a project of Granite State Progress.
“Our hearts are heavy from the recent tragedy at Club Q in Colorado Springs, which left 5 community members dead and another 25 injured,” Linds Jakows, co-founder of 603 Equality and Josie Pinto, executive director of the Reproductive Freedom Fund of New Hampshire said in a statement.
A week before the Colorado shooting, members of the Proud Boys protested outside a Drag Queen Story Hour event in downtown Concord.
