Thanks to you, a new program to give Concord Monitor digital subscriptions to people and families has surpassed its first goal.

Called News for Your Neighbor, the intent is to give digital access to the news so more people know what’s happening in their community.

We’re excited to announce that we have reached our first goal of 25 gift subscriptions, which have been matched by our corporate sponsor McLane Middleton. That means 50 individuals or families will receive an all-access, one-year digital subscription to the Concord Monitor.

Thank you for helping more neighbors get access to the essential information they need, and for helping us grow our readership. We’re so grateful for your support.

But we’re not stopping there.

McLane Middleton, our corporate sponsor for News for Your Neighbor, will match an additional 25 gift subscriptions from readers. That means another 50 families can get access to the Concord Monitor.

How does the program work?

Like any good newsroom, the Monitor holds the powerful accountable. We reflect what is happening in the community and we uncover information the public deserves to know. We tell stories of sadness, joy, struggle and triumph. These are the community’s stories that everyone deserves to see and read.

News for Your Neighbor involves you, our readers, our corporate sponsor and our nonprofit partners.

Second Start, Family Promise and Overcomers Refugee Services, our three nonprofit partners, have identified local individuals and families that will most benefit from having a year-long digital subscription to the Concord Monitor. Our readers purchase a $100 digital subscription for someone in need. Our corporate sponsor, McLane Middleton, matches the first 50 subscriptions, so your contribution is doubled. The Monitor will reinvest the money it receives into a new reporting beat to enhance our coverage and become better able to serve our readers.

What does it mean to reinvest the revenue from this program back into our newsroom? When you purchase a gift subscription, not only will a local family get access to the Concord Monitor, but you’ll help us increase our ability to reach people by funding a new reporter.

Community contributions from you, our readers, ensure that this initiative is sustainable so that the Monitor can continue to invest in its newsroom while reaching those who need it.

If you contribute to the program, we’d love to recognize you by name, in print and online, to say thank you. But if you’d prefer to remain anonymous, you can.

As this program grows, we hope to spread the news far and wide, literally.
