Omer Thomas Lassonde Barton

Concord, NH – Omer Thomas Lassonde Barton, 69, of Concord, New
Hampshire, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2025.

He was born September 27, 1955, in Concord, to the late Cleon D. and
Mildred J. (Stafford) Barton. In addition to his parents, he was
predeceased by his son, Tyler J. Barton, of Goffstown, and his sisters
Eileene, Carol, and Donna.

He attended Concord schools and was a lifelong resident of the greater
Concord area. His love of the outdoors was evident even as a boy. As
one of 14 children, he learned to hunt and fish from a young age,
pastimes he kept throughout his life.

His first job was working at Beech Hill Farm in Hopkinton. As he grew
into a young man, he learned martial arts and trained as a boxer,
regularly competing at Everett Arena in Concord. A true Renaissance
man, he was also an avid gardener, raised chickens, and bred hunting
dogs for many years. He was also a self-taught musician – he loved
playing guitar and singing at local bars, restaurants, and many family
functions. His voice was a dead ringer for one of his favorite
artists, Gordon Lightfoot.

He worked as a self-employed painter and carpenter for most of his
life. He was an old-fashioned businessman; his word was his bond, and
his contracts were often sealed with a handshake. He relied almost
entirely on word of mouth, as people came to respect his warmth,
honesty, hard work, and down-to-earth nature. Customer relationships
often evolved into friendships spanning decades.

Omer was known for his generosity and being present when it mattered
most. He’d drop everything to help neighbors, friends, and family –
always offering the last dollar he had in his pocket, or to drive
someone to an appointment. He found fulfillment through visiting
family, old friends, the woods, strumming his guitar, and hiking with
his dogs.

His most important roles were being a father to Daniel and Tyler and a
grandfather to Tatum and Kohen. Never was a man prouder to have sons
and grandsons. Following the death of his eldest son, Tyler, Omer took
an active role in his grandson Tatum’s life, picking him up from
school, showing up to his baseball games, and caring for him on most
weekends.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel L. Barton of Portland,
ME, stepdaughter, Wendy Godin of Thornton, grandson and “lil’ buddy”
Tatum Woods of Goffstown, and grandson Kohen Frost of Arizona. He is
also survived by his siblings, Louisa, Douglas, Rhoda, Karene, Sharon,
Janet, Peter, Pamela, Gregory, and Patricia, countless nieces and
nephews, lifelong friends Patty and Ray Pare of Goffstown, dear friend
Gail Jones of Loudon, and his former wife, Holly L. Barton of
Bradford, NH.

Omer will be laid to rest at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord on
Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 AM followed by celebration of life
services at Cremation Society of NH, 172 King Street in Boscawen.
Gathering will be held 11:00am-12:00pm with a memorial service to
begin at noon.
