Strengthen Medicare programs
Working in the medical system for years, when it came time to retire, I knew right away which health plan was for me and enrolled in Medicare Advantage without hesitation.
Over the years, I saw not only how much simpler the program’s structure is, but also how many essential benefits it covers. This really matters, especially when traditional Medicare feels confusing and leaves too many gaps.
Medicare Advantage covers the things people actually need. For me, the vision coverage is a huge help. For others, it might be dental, hearing or prescription drug support. It’s a program that delivers real value and helps people stay healthy without getting buried in bills.
Now that the government shutdown is over and lawmakers are getting back to work, I hope lawmakers keep Medicare Advantage off the chopping block. Seniors and people with disabilities in New Hampshire depend on it. Any cuts would mean fewer benefits and higher costs for people who can’t afford to lose anything.
The No UPCODE Act is especially concerning. It would cut funding and take away benefits that keep seniors healthy and catch problems early. That’s not worth some short-term savings.
I’m asking our congressional delegation to protect Medicare Advantage and reject bills that weaken it. This program is affordable and effective. Let’s keep it that way for years to come.
