Help me help you, Ward 6

While interviewing with Catherine McLaughlin for The Monitor’s article, “New Concord city councilors express disappointment after contentious first meeting,” she asked about my immediate goals on the council. With that piece focused on the January meeting, I wanted to follow up with more details.

My focus right now is in building out effective public engagement. I’m using Facebook and Instagram @aislinn4concord as a way to get information out quickly. My website now includes links to helpful city resources, a list of upcoming meetings, and more. I will be sending out my first newsletter (which will be reposted to my blog) at the end of the month; sign up at www.aislinn4concord.com. While you’re on the homepage, you can take my survey ahead of the re-scheduled council priorities session.

The first Thursday of each month — more often if there’s a desire for it — I’ll be holding an “office hours” at the State Street Laundromat (Galactic Laundry). Swing by between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. for the first one on Feb. 5, with or without a load of laundry. I’ll be there to chat and answer questions in a casual, non-traditional setting that reaches the renters in my area, even if no one shows up to these at first. Quarterly, I will hold a formal ward meeting.

My goal is to make myself as accessible as possible so Ward 6 knows who I am, how they can get help or give feedback, and what is happening at the city level.
