The war misuses our tax dollars

It’s tax season, and this year I’m angry.

D.C. is using our tax dollars to fund the Iran war at upwards of a billion dollars a day. After almost two months, that means every man, woman, and child in the U.S. has shelled out at least $400 for a pointless war, now quagmire. Not to mention what it has done to inflation and energy prices.

This is not where I want my hard-earned money to go. This is why we fought kings, who in the 18th century regularly impoverished their countries with foreign wars. We need to stop the hemorrhaging of treasure and lives now.

That said, I’m not anti-tax. I don’t mind shouldering my fair share for the public good, providing education, health care, housing and food for the elderly, vets, and children in the U.S. and around the world. That’s just good citizenship.

So, join me in letting our senators Hassan and Shaheen, and representatives Goodlander and Pappas know it’s past time to stop the madness. They must use their voices and position to speak up, making sure Congress, with its power of the purse, says no to the war and says yes to putting our tax dollars where they matter.
