A car dealership is being proposed at the site of Freedom Cycle, a long-established motorcycle dealership on Manchester Street in Concord, alongside a proposed new hotel.
The proposal from Capital City Subaru is before the city planning board and will next be heard Aug. 19. It calls for renovating the main building used by Freedom Cycle and adding a small addition to become a car dealership, plus reusing an existing building in the rear for “reconditioning vehicles,” according to city records.
It is unclear whether Freedom Cycle will remain operating on the site or move. The company has not responded to Monitor queries.
That stretch of Manchester Street contains several auto- and auto-related businesses, notably Grappone Mazda and Banks Chevrolet.
The Freedom Cycle site is adjacent to 94-98 Manchester Street, where Key Auto Group is proposing the 116-room hotel alongside the Key Collision Center. It is also slated to be heard by the Planning Board on Aug. 19.
If built, that would be the first new hotel in Concord since the Hotel Concord opened in 2019. Two hotels have been refurbished since then: Days Inn was replaced by Tru in 2020, and the Holiday Inn became Doubletree in 2025. Concord has around 800 hotel rooms.
