As a student, my teachers encouraged us to use the acronym HOMES to remember the Great Lakes: Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior. With Trump’s move to rename Lake Ontario, I suggest a new acronym for today’s students, SHAME: Superior, Huron, America, Michigan, Erie. It feels appropriate.
