We can’t afford to wait for affordable healthcare

As Protect Our Care’s New Hampshire partner, I helped bring our national bus tour to Rochester and Concord this week. We heard a clear message: people want affordable coverage, accessible services and a government that puts their health first.

This is about parents trying to get treatment for their children, small businesses struggling with costs and patients spending hours on the phone seeking approval for care. An insurance card should provide security, not another administrative battle.

Republican cuts to Medicaid and the loss of enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits take us in the wrong direction. Congress should reverse those cuts, restore the tax credits and protect the hospitals and clinics our communities depend on.

We also need action on prescription prices. Expanding negotiated drug prices and strengthening protections against high medication costs would help families keep essential treatment within reach.

Healthy communities support a stronger economy. When people can get care, they can work, support their families and contribute to community life.

Granite Staters deserve leaders who will fight for affordable, dependable health care. We need Congress to act now. Our families cannot afford more uncertainty.
