No relief
I am writing in response to the article of Oct. 7 upholding the Addison death sentence. In my opinion, the death of Michael Addison will not bring “relief” to the family of Michael Briggs. It will not lessen the pain of their grief, or the anger. There is no “cure” for the loss of a beloved. We wish there were. But we are each left to find a way to endure the unbearable and accept the unacceptable. Acceptance does not mean agreeing or condoning, only that nothing can undo what has happened. We cannot correct it or change it. We carry the grief for as long as we live and if we’re lucky we discover our loved one is still with us. “I carry you in my heart.” — e.e. cummings
