A bus transporting students from Croydon to New London Elementary School was involved in an accident with another vehicle this morning at the intersection of Route 10 and Route 114. No students were injured or transported for medical attention, said Kearsarge Regional School District Principal Michael Bessette.

Bessette said the police department and Croydon officials responded to the accident and contacted the parents of students on the bus directly. Students were released to their parents and guardians at the scene.

Bessette said the district’s first and highest priority was the safety and well-being of its students and addressing families’ needs. While he did not have an exact number, Bessette estimated around a dozen students were on the bus at the time of the accident.

“There were some littles on that [bus], so it was a little nerve-racking for them, I suspect,” Bessette said. “So going back to their parents probably calmed them quite a bit and reassured some parents too, which is important. We want to make sure that the kids are cared for.”

Bessette was waiting for more details from authorities on how the accident happened and how much damage had been done to either vehicle.
