Concord’s Ward 4 is among eight places around the state that will have their ballot-counting devices audited after Tuesday’s election, part of the required process to check on the accuracy of the machines following statewide elections.

The Secretary of State randomly selected a ballot counting device in three towns and five city wards. Four of the locations use the Liberty Votes ImageCast machine, including Concord, and four use the VotingWorks device.

The other communities besides Concord selected that use Liberty Votes machines were: Hudson, Manchester Ward 7 and Laconia Ward 5. The four that use VotingWords are Moultonborough, Portsmouth Ward 2, Rochester Ward 3  and Woodstock.

Post-election audits are required by RSA 660:35.

The audits will take place on Wednesday, November 4, at 10 a.m. and Thursday, November 5, at 9 a.m. at Archives at the New Hampshire State Archives, 9 Ratification Way, Concord.  The audits are open to the public.

An audit team appointed by the Secretary of State will assist with the audits, with technical assistance and audit technology provided by Enhanced Voting.  A report of the audits will be published by the Secretary of State’s Office on Friday, November 6.

Concord’s Ward 4 polling place is the Green Street Community Center, right next to City Hall and the police station.
