The town of Allenstown will hold a public hearing on Saturday on the proposed town and school budgets for the year 2023.

This year’s proposed budget is 4.6% higher than the town’s current budget and the proposed school budget is $12.79 million.

During the public hearing, residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the proposed town and school budgets prior to the deliberative session and ballot vote in the following months.

The budget hearing is the first of three steps in the SB2 ballot town process. In a deliberative session on Feb. 4, voters will debate and amend the budget and warrant articles. Finally, on election day, March 14, residents will vote by ballot on the town and school budgets on election day to decide the final outcome.

The public hearing will begin at 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall, 10 School St. If the hearing is postponed, it will take place on Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.
