Monarchs falls to Pirates in shootout

Alexandre Bolduc scored the lone goal of a shootout as the Portland Pirates beat the visiting Manchester Monarchs, 3-2, last night.

Nick Shore, Jordan Weal and Brian O’Neill came up empty in the shootout for Manchester, while goalie J.F. Berube stopped the first two shots before Bolduc found the back of the net.

Portland led 2-0 just 12:02 into the game, but Manchester tied the game on a goals by Nic Dowd and Zach O’Brien. Dowd tallied at 18:54 of the second period, with assists from Jeff Schultz and Sean Backman to make it 2-1, then O’Brien tied the game 1:40 into the third period with assists from Shore and Colin Miller.

Berube finished with 24 saves.
