The town of Bow will hold a public hearing on Thursday to discuss the proposed town and school budgets for the year 2023. The public hearing is an opportunity for residents to weigh in on the budgets before the town meeting in March.

The town’s proposed operating budget is $12.8 million, an increase from $11.9 million and a 7% increase from the previous year.

Personnel expenses account for the majority of the increase in the operating budget. At the town meeting, residents will be asked to vote for the two new positions that the town is recommending – a full-time police officer and a part-time fire inspector.

The tax rate would increase to $7.55, a 0.33% increase if the warrant articles and budget are approved.

The proposed budget for the school district is $17.4 million, a 4.19% increase from the $16.7 million of the previous year. The budget’s significant increase is caused by increases in staff and salaries.

The public hearing for the municipal budget and school district budget will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Bow High School Auditorium, 55 Falcon Way
