It’s been a dry year for sure, and one church is taking a special service to pray for rain.
Church of the Woods, which meets in a 106-acre area of woods and wetlands along Foster Road in Canterbury, will be holding two services Sunday to give gratitude for water.
At both the 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. sessions, honor will be given to St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology. Forecasts call for showers this weekend, but officials say any precipitation won’t be enough to quench the dry conditions.
Church of the Woods takes the philosophy of spiritual practice unfolding outdoors. It’s rooted in Christian sacramental tradition and is open to all.
Attendees should plan to dress for the weather, as services are held outside.
More information can be found on kairosearth.org. The service will go on rain or shine.
