Concord police officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of robbing the Quick Stop convenience store near downtown.

An armed robbery was reported Sunday shortly before 7 p.m. at the store at 201 South Main St. A masked, white man who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt entered the store and brandished a handgun, Concord police Detective Sgt. Rob Buelte said Monday.

The clerk reported that the man – who had on black gloves – stole cash from the store’s register and then fled.

The police department released video surveillance images of the suspect Monday as part of the ongoing investigation. Several of those photos were of the suspect inside Vinnie’s Pizzaria at 200 South Main St., where police say the man went just prior to robbing the Quick Stop across the street.

Buelte told the Monitor that detectives believe the suspect took off from the convenience store in a vehicle and not on foot. He said additional information will be released once the police are able to make a positive vehicle identification.

Police   are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Buelte at 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 226-3100. The crimeline provides cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or the recovery of stolen property.
