Howie Leung investigation timeline

Dec. 10: The Concord School District learns of allegations of sexual misconduct against Primo “Howie” Leung and begins an internal investigation.

Mid-February: The New Hampshire Department of Education learns of the allegations from Concord School District Superintendent Terri Forsten and looks into the claims.

Feb. 14: The Concord Police Department opens a criminal investigation after receiving notice from the state’s education department.

March 18: A girl reports to Concord police Det. Julie Curtin that Leung touched her inappropriately and raped her in Concord and at the Fessenden School in Newton, Mass. Curtin is the same officer who investigated the case against Owen Labrie. 

March 19: Curtin contacts The Newton Police Department, which opens a related investigation into sexual assault allegations against Leung.

March 27: Leung's last day at Concord High School, the same day he is notified of the investigation. The district places him on paid leave.

March 28: Leung is taken to Concord Hospital after a suicide attempt. He remains at the hospital until his arrest.

April 3: Leung is arrested by Concord police on a fugitive from justice charge and a Massachusetts warrant charging him with rape.

April 4: Leung waives his arraignment in Concord's district court and is held without bail.

April 17: Leung is extradited to Massachusetts where a judge orders him detained pending a mental health evaluation.

April 19: A judge rules that Leung is mentally competent to stand trial and sets bail at $50,000 cash. Leung remains on paid leave despite his arrest.
