Letter: What goes around comes around, Democrats

Saturday, November 10, 2018

The only thing missing in Nancy Pelosi’s gloating victory speech was a similar statement when Democrats unilaterally strapped us with Obamacare: “We have to be seated for people to see what we will do.”

What should happen is legislation not litigation, cooperation not recrimination. It is doubtful that the pompous, self-congratulatory, enlightened elitists, who claim the high ground on all things compassion and “fairness,” have it in their collective souls to fulfill those lofty principles.

Unfortunately, those who voted for Democrats on the issue of health care seem to either ignore or be naïve to the fact that Obamacare is certainly not affordable for anyone on any of the plans; it is catastrophic insurance coverage with a high deductible. The only winners are those on Medicaid, funded disproportionately by taxpayers on exchanges.

Do we need to fix health care in this country? Yes, but forcing individuals and families to pay premiums equal to a house payment is not the answer. Medicare for all? Studies show that would bankrupt the country with estimated costs of $32.6 trillion.

Pelosi, one of the wealthiest members of Congress, will undoubtedly want to take back the tax break or “crumbs” in her world from hard-working Americans.

We can expect the press, virtual signaling unfunny late-night hosts, celebrities and rabid “resistance” crackpots to practice identity politics in spades as they further attempt to demonize and dismiss half of the population they characterize as irrelevant. They should remember the adage that what goes around comes around before they practice politics as usual.
