Letter: Response to ‘Warner bristles at state housing’

The Warner residents who attended the select board meeting on Nov. 12 shared their concern for the Housing Champion Program. It is certainly understandable that residents would be angry since there was very short notification of this agenda item. When there is not enough information about a program such as this, concerns that our already high property taxes will rise as a result are certainly valid. (Reducing the inequities in our local property taxes is an issue that the NH state legislature must address.)

As a select board member my intentions, and I feel those of my fellow board members are to work for our community’s best interests, openly in a respectful manner. I would hope in the future Warner will work to solve some of the housing challenges, the same that affect most NH communities. I know that we have very engaged residents who care deeply about the community. I hope some of these concerned citizens will work together to create real solutions.
