A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle late Tuesday night in Pittsfield, and authorities are treating the death as suspicious.

Around 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, Pittsfield police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the 440 block of Tilton Hill Road, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said they are also looking into a reported confrontation at a nearby residence that may have preceded the incident.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The name of the dead man has not yet been publicly released.

The New Hampshire State Police, Pittsfield Police Department, and Attorney General’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. All individuals involved have been identified, and authorities continue to interview witnesses.

At this time, officials say there is no known threat to the public.
