Noah Cummings waited for the clear-out, surveyed the court and then broke the hearts of Merrimack Valley fans with a game-winning shot in the final seconds on Saturday to earn the Monitor Player of the Week Award.

A 6-foot junior guard for the Pembroke boys’ basketball team, Cummings delivered a tough shot as time expired to help the Spartans turn back the Pride, 43-41, and move to 6-3 on the season.

It was the last in a three-game week for Cummings and Pembroke. Cummings notched 14 points, five rebounds and a steal in a 49-47 loss to Oyster River on Wednesday and helped the Spartans bounce back on Friday, scoring 15 points with four rebounds and two steals in a 68-59 win over Plymouth.
