With Round 1 of the New Hampshire Mid-Amateur Championship at Concord Country Club complete, Jim Cilley (Pembroke Pines CC) and Will McLaughlin (Concord CC) are tied for the lead after shooting 68 on the par-70, 6,400-yard course on Tuesday.

Cilley won this tournament 11 years ago – the last time it was held at Concord CC – and has landed in the final pairing multiple times.

Alongside Cilley is McLaughlin, who calls Concord Country Club his home course. McLaughlin carded a steady, consistent round with three birdies and one bogey.

Defending champion James Pleat had an up-and-down day to finish his round with a 73.

Other locals near the top of the leaderboard include Concord CC’s Fletcher Sokul (tied 12th, 73), William Hartigan (tied 12th), Canterbury CC’s Chris Philippy (tied 16th, 74) and Loudon CC’s Bob Landry (tied 30th, 76).

Following 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 27 and ties. Those golfers will move on to play 18 more holes to determine the champion.
