Northern Pass job fairs make sense

Honestly, Dawn Scribner’s concerns regarding the Job & Supplier Fairs sponsored by Northern Pass are a mystery to me (Monitor letters, Dec. 12). Consider this: With the potential to secure siting approval by New Hampshire regulators this winter, Northern Pass construction is on track to begin in April. It is certainly sensible that outreach begins now, in preparing for the 2,600 jobs that will be created or generated during the construction period.

The fairs offer suppliers and skilled workers the opportunity to meet with the team leading the construction of Northern Pass and are an important step toward following through on our commitment to hire New Hampshire workers first and to deliver economic benefits to host communities.

The first of two Job & Supplier Fairs was held on Dec. 13 in Whitefield. The second will be held Jan. 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Grappone Center in Concord.
