Look out for I-393 work in Chichester, Pembroke next week

Road work on Interstate 393, extending from Exit 1 to the Pembroke/Chichester line, will occur all of next week, the Department of Transportation announced Friday.

The facelift will include the ramps to Exits 1 through 3 and begin on Monday, weather permitting, and conclude this Friday, avoiding the morning and late-afternoon commuting hours.

“One lane of traffic will be maintained on eastbound and westbound barrels during construction operations,” said a DOT press release, which added that traffic messages and control devices will be used to direct motorists.

The DOT asks that drivers remain alert when driving through the construction zone.

The work is part of a $500,000 sign-replacement project on I-393, both eastbound and westbound. The estimated completion date is October 20.
