Standing up for women

I want to thank Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan for standing up for New Hampshire and voting no on the health care repeal bill.

Many experts have called it the worst bill for women in a generation, because it would have blocked people from going to Planned Parenthood for preventive care, raised premiums by 20 percent and kicked millions off their insurance. This bill would have hurt people here in New Hampshire, but especially women.

Both Sens. Shaheen and Hassan have been leaders on women’s health care issues since Day One, and have consistently opposed this bill and any legislation that would “defund” Planned Parenthood. The election of Sen. Hassan last fall made all the difference in the health care vote. Had New Hampshire not elected Sen. Hassan, it’s very likely that Trumpcare would have passed and the lives of women in New Hampshire and across the country would be at risk.

Elections matter, and I’m glad that New Hampshire has two women’s health care champions standing with us in the Senate and looking out for the best interest of New Hampshire.
