■The 2023 Bow Rotary Summer Concert Series debuted on Thursday evening, July 13 and continues through the summer until Aug. 17. All concerts will be held at the Town Gazebo as always however please note that this year the concert series has moved from Sunday to Thursday evenings. Concerts will all begin at 6:30 p.m., ending at 8 p.m. and in the case of inclement weather they will be moved inside the Bow Community Building. The next concert in the series will be held on July 20 with “Supernothing,” a Raggae/Rock five-piece band that draws influences from artists such as Sublime. Bob Marley, The Elovaters, the Movement, Dirty Heads and more! And they occasionally bring elements of hip hop, funk, ska and punk to the table as well. Be sure to have your dancing shoes on for this one! ■Bow Young at Heart will meet on Wednesday, July 26, at the Old Town Hall, 91 Bow Center Road, Bow and will feature the presentation “Founding Fathers: What Were They Thinking? with Richard Hess, sponsored by the NH Humanities Council. On Aug. 9 BYAH will host NY Times bestselling author Michael Tougas, who will give a slide show presentation about his book “The Finest Hours ... The True Story of the US Coast Guard’s Most Daring Sea Rescue.” His book has since been made into a movie by Disney starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck. This presentation is also sponsored by the NH Humanities Council. The public is invited to attend both of these free events. ■Chichester Town representatives Clayton Woods and Cyril Aures remind us that the fiscal year at the state house started this month. A bill that required tweaks at the Committee of Conference comprised of Senators and Representatives passed on a simple voice vote. House Bill 281 a bipartisan bill which included an energy compromise that eliminated old procedures and provided a streamlined process for transparency and control that would allow cost benefits to constituents. The House voted against HB 61 to spend $200K for a study to recommend new surface setbacks for landfills.
