I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following for the success of the 34th annual Concord Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration. First, those of all ages who came to help launch the festive holiday season in downtown Concord and Chris Garrett and WJYY FM for all the support and sponsorship for the annual Skip Houle Memorial Fireworks Display.

Platinum sponsors included Service Credit Union; AutoServ of Tilton (Dennis Gaudet, 20 years); The Rowley Insurance Agency and Dennis Church (20 years); Dave Mailhot Enterprises; Concord Business Center with Lee Marden; N.H. Motor Speedway of Loudon; and Dr. Joe Venus.

I appreciated the individuals who kindly donated to help keep this event going and other businesses, such as Hermanos, Gondwana Divine Clothing, N.H. Federal Credit Union, and Bangor Savings Bank. If I have missed someone, it was not intentional.

I would like to thank everyone who brought donations to stuff the cruiser for the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness. A special thanks to Sheriff Scott Hilliard for stepping up to the plate to send a Merrimack County Sheriff Cruiser with a deputy to collect the items. It was stuffed full. Also a special thank you to all who brought toys for the N.H. State Police Toys for Tots Campaign. You are so generous, believe me.

The horse-drawn wagon rides by Bruce Locke, Carriage Shack Farm for the petting zoo proved to be such a great hit. The Brian Waldron Band despite the chilly early winter temps gave us all the holiday music we could enjoy. A special thank you to Santa Claus and the Concord Fire Department for his delivery to the State House Plaza. I was told a very special story about his visit to one special child. Thank you to Mike Conroy, Tom and Karen Cusano and the volunteers who came to help. Thank you to Chris Hilstro at Code Enforcement for his assistance. A special thank you to Concord Police, General Services of Concord, N.H. State Department of Transportation, Traffic Division for decorating the tree at the Plaza, Eagle Square, and Heights.

Concord Grange 322 has proudly sponsored the lights on these trees for 48 years. The Grange with the valued support of the Concord Knights of Columbus 110 for getting the Creche in place and lit. Thank you to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for storing the building and figurines in the off-season. I am a volunteer and I often wonder do we need this event, after what I saw and heard, I guess it is a great event. Thank you to Jon Bodell of the Insider for the excellent writing on this event and WMUR TV 9 for coming to cover it. Lastly, I missed the late Kevin Tucker so much this year, as he was my right arm for many years at this event along with David Hatch.

Happy holidays!
