The University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team will participate in the 2019 Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the program announced Wednesday.

The Wildcats will face a Hockey East opponent in Northeastern to open the tournament and the winner will face either Colgate or Princeton of the ECAC for the Belpot Trophy.

The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 29-30, 2019.

The announcement was made at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. UNH Athletic Director Marty Scarano and men’s hockey head coach Mike Souza attended the announcement, as well as UNH hall of fame members Steve Saviano and Ralph Cox.

Cox, UNH’s all-time leading scorer, has been involved with the Friendship Four since it began in 2015.

Saviano currently plays for the Belfast Giants, whose home rink is the tournament’s hosting arena.
