A man and woman have died after falling from their paddle boards into the water at Everett Lake in Weare on Saturday, state police say.

Marine Patrol received the call about 5:10 p.m. Saturday. Weare police and fire rescue were first on the scene, where they were able to find the woman and pull her from the water. She was taken to Concord Hospital where she later died.

A search continued for the man, whose body was eventually found by a Nashua dive team in about 12 feet of water.

State police have not released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families, but police did say they were both 59 and from Merrimack.

State police said neither victim was wearing a life jacket. Marine Patrol urges everyone participating in any kind of boating activity to have a personal flotation device readily accessible.

An investigation is ongoing.
