As COVID cases decline, Dartmouth College stops requiring vaccination

As active COVID cases continue to recede in New Hampshire, Dartmouth College will no longer require students and employees to be vaccinated against the disease or have an approved exemption.
The college continues to “strongly recommend” that students, faculty, staff and visitors stay up to date with their COVID vaccines, according to a message from Provost David Kotz and Executive Vice President Rick Mills, released Tuesday. Vaccines, face masks and COVID-19 antigen tests will continue to be available on campus.
Statewide, the number of people in the hospital with COVID-19 has fallen below 30 for the first time in a year, according to data from the New Hampshire Hospital Association. That number has declined steadily since a winter peak of 170 hospitalized patients in mid-January. If it continues to fall, the state’s hospitals will soon have fewer COVID patients than at any point since the summer of 2021.
In another sign that the pandemic is fading, wastewater being monitored by the CDC throughout the Northeast is reporting low levels of the SARS-CoV2 virus that causes COVID.
