Animal Shelter Bowl-A-Thon

■The first Annual Franklin Animal Shelter Bowl-A-Thon is on Dec. 10 at Funspot in Laconia. Gather a four-player team and compete in three strings of bowling: Candle Pin, Ten Pin and one chosen at random. Registration is at 8 a.m. the day of the event, bowl at 9 a.m. Fall Lucky Paw ticket winner will be drawn during the awards ceremony. Visit to learn more and for raffle details.

■Letters From Santa will be offered by Franklin Parks and Recreation for Franklin residents only. Non-residents need to register at 12 RowellDri. Visit for more information or call (603) 934-2118.

■The Planning Board meets on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at City Hall to consider P22-13: Dillon’s Custom Cabinetry owner, is seeking site-plan approval for a 19,600 sq ft light manufacturing facility, and associated site improvements.

■Yankee Swap at the TRIP Center on Dec. 16 at 12:30 p.m. Bring a gift ($5 limit). Santa will be there and goodies to share. Bring a friend or family member. Call (603) 934-4151 with questions.

■Pick up the monthly TRIP Center newsletter for a schedule of other events: cribbage, chair exercises, Keep Movin’, line dancing, craft group, adult coloring, just to name a few. All adults welcome, not just seniors.

■Holiday Celebration at the TRIP Center on Dec. 22. At 10:30 a.m., enjoy music with David Jenne and a raffle. At 11:30 a.m., enjoy a pot roast dinner. Holiday bingo will follow lunch. Sign up at the TRIP Center or call (603) 934-4151.

■The Paul Smith School PTA meets on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at the school.

■The Franklin Public Library Board of Trustees meets on Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Handicap access/elevator is available from the parking lot on Memorial Street.

■The Franklin Opera House Board of Directors meets on Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the lower room of City Hall. Enter through the rear side door on Memorial Street or from the parking lot in back.

■Franklin Rotary Club meets on Dec. 14 at noon. Visit the Facebook page for the upcoming speaker. Learn about this great community organization and, if pressed for time, bring your lunch!

■ The Rotary meets at 237 Central St. every Wednesday at noon. You don’t have to belong to Rotary to attend their informative meetings.

■Franklin Footlight Theatre presents Christmas One-Acts on Dec. 8 to 11 at 7:30 at the Franklin Opera House. Visit for more information and to purchase tickets. Tickets also available at the box office one hour prior to the performance.
