Newbury will hold its Old Home Day on July 8. There will be activities and food available all day including visits from food trucks from Salt Hill Pub, Kona Ice, Up In Smoke, Candy Man, AJ Catering, Get Loaded, Ramblin Man and Avalie’s Sweet Treat. The fire department will serve breakfast at 9 a.m., there will be a strawberry social at the Union Church at 10 a.m. Activities include re-enactment, visits with Smokey the Bear, book sale, farmers market, open houses with local groups, climbing wall and dunk tank, pony rides and petting zoo, performances, and fireworks at dusk. There will be special deals at Mount Sunapee and the State Beach that day, too, plus Newbury residents enter free at the Fells Estate. You can find Newbury Old Home Day information on Facebook.
Hope Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Gilford is having a Rummage Sale and Flea Market on July 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. These annual sales are well-known in the region for a huge array of low priced clothing items and many flea market tables as well as linens, books, and children’s stuff. In addition, on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. a $2 fill-a-bag sale will be featured. If you would like to donate items for the sale (no electronics or junk please), please plan to deliver them between July 10 – 12 in the mornings. The Methodist Church is located at 18 Wesley Way (off Route 11a near the 3/11 bypass), in Gilford.
An Electric Praise summer concert will be held July 13 at 6 p.m. behind Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton St., Concord. Wesley United Methodist & First Congregational Churches will host a concert by Electric Praise. This contemporary praise band is from Wesley United Methodist Church and is sure to provide an entertaining and spiritual experience! The concert is free to the public (Donations accepted) and we'll have snacks and soft drinks available at a modest price.
Bring your lawn chairs and bug spray! Kids are welcome to use the adjacent playground while you watch the concert.
This concert is rain or shine. If the weather is looking iffy, we'll move it inside at the back of the church building.
