A Boscawen man is being held without bail after he was charged on Monday with being in possession of child sexual abuse images.
Shaun St. Pierre, 42, is facing five felony charges for downloading and possessing child pornography, which was uncovered as part of an investigation that began in November, said Boscawen Police Chief Jason Killary.
“We got a cyber tip that there was an image downloaded at this particular IP address. We got search warrants and they came back to the defendant’s address,” Killary said. “We took almost everything electronic, had the devices analyzed and got enough probable cause for charges related to child sexual abuse images.”
On Monday, police went to St. Pierre’s residence to arrest him but he refused to come out of the home. Once police made entry, St. Pierre surrendered peacefully, Killary said.
The investigation into St. Pierre began when the Concord Police Department notified the Boscawen Police Department of potential criminal activity concerning child sex abuse images at a specific residence in Boscawen, according to a news release.
During the course of the investigation, multiple search warrants were executed and large amounts of digital evidence and electronics belonging to St. Pierre were collected and examined.
St. Pierre refused bail and is being held at the Merrimack County Department of Corrections pending his arraignment on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Merrimack County Superior Court.
The Boscawen Police Department was assisted by Concord, Amherst and Derry police departments, Hillsborough and Merrimack County sheriff’s offices and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
