On Jan. 21 and 22, Concord Chorale will present The Sky Within, a concert celebrating the themes of sky, flight, and letting go.

The Sky Within showcases a variety of musical styles, including “Opus 112” by Johannes Brahms and “Renaissance madrigals” by Maddalena Casaluana, as well as works by contemporary composers such as Eric Whitacre and Susan LaBarr.

In recent concerts, Concord Chorale has been accompanied by chamber orchestra; The Sky Within will feature piano and chorus. The collaborative pianist will be Blake Leister, a New Hampshire based musician who performs regularly with the New Hampshire Master Chorale and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.

“I’m excited about this concert because it has allowed us to stretch ourselves through different styles of singing and to really focus on the color of our sound,” says Jenny Cooper, music director of Concord Chorale.

The Sky Within will take place at South Church on Pleasant Street in Concord. Sunday’s performance will also be live-streamed.

Showtimes will be on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. (in-person only) and Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. (also livestreamed). Ticket are available online at concordchorale.org.
