Good luck, Mayor Boule

Congratulations to Mayor Jim Bouley on his victory in the city elections, and my thanks for running a clean, issue-oriented campaign.

It was particularly nice to avoid the blizzard of ugly signs that have polluted public spaces in some past elections, although unfortunately even some uncontested candidates were addicted.

I wish the best of luck to him in the next couple of years; I’m sure there will be many challenges.

Thank you to those who voted for me; there are definitely people who feel that the city is ignoring them but a more skilled candidate will be needed to give them a voice. I will leave up my blog (concordismorethanmainstreet.blogspot.com) for anyone who wants different opinions than those provided by city government.

Lastly, thanks to those who took the time to vote for my opponents. Turnout in city elections is typically pathetic; one candidate told me that even people who put his signs in their yards might not bother to actually show up to vote.

And if ordinary people don’t vote, the special interests will rule.
