The Weare Public Library is hosting Weare’s first Comic Day on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Weare Old Town Hall, the Weare Public Library, and the surrounding areas. Come in your favorite cosplay costume, meet comic book artists, take pictures with your favorite characters or with the crazy taxi car or a Smokey and the Bandit car, and win prizes.

Headlining the show will be Mark Pinksten, a comedian, cosplayer, and performer, who has been thrilling audiences for more than 25 years. For the last three years, his Comedy and Pop Culture show has performed 200 shows at over 40 comic cons, Doctor Who cons and Harry Potter cons. Using audience members and a cast of other performers, he recreates moments from pop culture classics on stage with comic results. He will have two shows at noon and 2 p.m.

Among the many artists appearing will be Scott Ambruson, whose work includes the comic book Trailer Park of Terror by Imperium Comics; Nicky Lee Daley, an artist and cosplayer; Brian Wheeler, a comedian, writer, storyboard artist, and cartoonist; Emily Drouin, whose published works include, Hyperdork: Years and Years of Trauma, Are You my Girlfriend, Mundane Men, and Treasure Your Sight; and Sky Purple and cosplay specialists Samantha Michelle Young, Carley Winn and Christopher Lavallee.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and there is a Cosplay Panel at 10:30. Video game tournaments featuring Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Dragonball Fighter Z happen in the basement of the library from noon until 2 p.m. Kids Deal or No Deal competition takes place at 1 p.m., followed by the adults at 1:30 p.m. Kids costume Party is at 3 p.m.; teens and adults at 3:30 p.m.

There will be vendor booths and prizes, too, including a family four-pack of passes to attend Granite State Comicon. To find more information, email wearepl@comcast.net or call 529-2044.
