Scott Drapeau was introduced as the new head coach of the Bow boys’ basketball team on Wednesday afternoon.

In a tweet sent out at 1:46 p.m. from Falcon Athletics, the account congratulated Drapeau as the new hire.

“I wasn’t sure what we were going to get late in the (hiring) game, but I’m certainly happy with what we got,” Athletic Director Michael Desilets said. “He just reached out and applied as soon as we posted the application. We were impressed with the history and knowledge that he has and the enthusiasm he brought during the interview process.”

Drapeau had a storied career as a player for Merrimack Valley in the late ’80s early ’90s, making three state championship appearances with two victories. He also was a 2,000-point scorer and secured over 1,000 rebounds for the then-Indians.

This will be his second stint at coaching boys basketball. He was the varsity boys’ coach at Hillsboro-Deering during the 2013-14 season and served as the girls’ coach for the 2012-13 season.

Basketball season starts on Nov. 29 when teams can begin practicing. Bow is scheduled to open its season on Dec. 10, hosting Bishop Brady with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
