Fallen traffic light pole in downtown Concord snarls traffic

One of the busiest intersections in Concord, at Center and North State Street, lost its traffic lights Thursday night when a pole collapsed on its own, apparently because of rust or corrosion at the base.
The pole, which held up the lights controlling southbound traffic on North State Street, had not been hit by a vehicle. Nobody was hurt when it fell around 10:30 p.m.
Deerfield-based East Coast Signals installed lights on a temporary, wooden pole Friday as flaggers directed traffic at the intersection, a block from the State House. The plan is have lights operating again by Friday night.
