A wonderful thing happened in Concord on Friday, May 10. Concord Hospital planned and hosted a reunion for all graduates of the Concord Hospital School of Nursing, which was in operation from 1887 until 1989.

Three hundred and sixty of these graduates (and some of their instructors) came from all over the country to attend. The event was held between 3 and 7 p.m. Transportation by shuttle was arranged between the hospital and a convenient parking area.

There were tours of several hospital units offered the attendees, films of student life and hospital history were being shown on continuous loops in three different locations, hors d’oeuvres and light snacks were provided, and convenient tables were set up where people could sit and eat and visit.

Organizers of this fantastic event included Sheila Swenson, Caryl Lajoie, Linda Sims, Pam Paris, Sandy Fisher and several Concord Hospital administrative personnel. There were many more people working behind the scenes.

Thank you so much to the hospital and all the people who worked so diligently to bring off this great success in honor of Nurses’ Week. It was a wonderful and memorable occasion. There was no noticeable coverage by the Concord Monitor.
