Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord-Merrimack County (PMSPCA) celebrated the completion of the Banks Humane Education Center (BHEC) at 95 Silk Farm Road with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 22nd. SPCA Board Director Tracy Banks cut the ribbon, with assistance from Concord Chamber of Commerce President Tim Sink, PMSPCA Board President Judy Goodnow, Concord Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Michele French from the Granite Group and Heather Capraro from Franklin Savings Bank, and PMSPCA Executive Director Heather Faria. Plans for the BHEC include the PMSPCA’s Compassion Camp for kids, pet owner seminars, yoga with shelter pets, volunteer orientations and PMSPCA events. By hosting these programs in the BHEC, the PMSPCA expects to increase capacity in its main shelter building for animal care and pet adoption programs. The PMSPCA does expect to make the space available for outside organizations to rent at some point in the future.
Easterseals NH Unveils Detailed Plans for NH Military and Veterans Campus in Franklin. What started as a conversation with Governor Sununu regarding deepening Easterseals NH’s long-term commitment to military service members, veterans, and their families has evolved into an unprecedented partnership with the State of New Hampshire to provide a central hub for housing and a variety of services designed to give back to those who have given so much. The blueprints for the 15-acre campus in Franklin, N.H., are complete and construction gets underway in September for what will be a roughly 15-month schedule. The campus will include affordable rental housing apartments, a hub of services, a retreat center, and therapeutic recreation opportunities for military service members, veterans, and their families.
The Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association is thrilled to announce that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Robert and Dorothy Goldberg Charitable Foundation. This grant money will go directly to help with the 51st Annual Art in the Park. The grant money is greatly appreciated in defraying the many expenses of the event.

The Works Café, a 10-unit fast casual chain in northern New England, has opened its first institutional location at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, N.H. The Works replaced a closing Au Bon Pain store.
