The spring season is just getting underway, but a pair of local athletes showed up for the first week in midseason form.

Concord softball’s Abby Rochette and Gilford baseball’s Adrian Siravo each tossed a no-hitter on Wednesday, sharing Monitor Player of the Week honors and opening the year with a bang for their respective programs.

Rochette did her damage against Bishop Guertin, striking out 14 during a 12-0 win in six innings. The junior walked just two and struck out every batter for BG at least once to help Concord earn its first victory of the year.

Siravo was equally as impressive against Winnisquam Regional. He needed only 86 pitches to no-hit the Bears, striking out 15 along the way in Gilford’s season-opening win.
